Tarek Buchmann has been on loan at 1. FC Nürnberg from Bayern Munich since the summer, but he had to wait until the 26th matchday of the season to finally make his debut for the 2. Bundesliga club.
After missing much of the season with a foot injury, Buchmann featured in a 3-2 win over Holstein Kiel – and Nürnberg coach Miroslav Klose was full of praise for the 21-year-old centre-back after the game.
"He has it all. He reads the game well, can play a good pass, fights for every duel, is courageous and defends proactively. A huge compliment!" Klose said.
"You could almost say he played like a seasoned professional. Hats off – especially given the setbacks he’s endured," he added, referring to Buchmann’s ongoing injury struggles.
Klose went on to express hope of keeping Buchmann beyond this season.
"I think we’ll have to have a few more conversations. We’ve invested a lot of work in the boy. We need him, but there are still other parties involved who have a say," he said.
Buchmann is contracted to Bayern Munich until 2027.
