Werner declines genius label after three substitutes score: "With five subs, the odds are better."
SV Werder Bremen trainer Ole Werner passed up an opportunity to be labelled a personnel genius when discussing his side's three late goals from substitutes against Dortmund on Saturday.

Whilst those associated with the BVB had their own questions to answer following Saturday's shock 2-3 defeat to Werder Bremen, Hanseaten head-coach Ole Werner was left to discuss the historical implications of his side's incredible comeback win. A comeback win from a 0-2 deficit had not been achieved so late in Germany's top footballing flight.
"I'm more of the shy, reserved type," Werner initially conveyed to his Sky interviewer.
A little later at the post-match presser, Werner let more emotions slip.
"To live through such moments in the stadium, that's what you became an athlete for," the SV trainer ruminated in front of members of the assembled media, "You can't even fantasize about such a spectacular turn-of-events as a child."
Werner charmed the reporters as they tried to play more emotional quotes out of him. Asked what the mood in the locker room was like after the victory, Werner sarcastically replied "surprisingly good". The Bundesliga's youngest serving trainer then added with a mischievous grin, "what happens in the locker room stays in the locker room".
In something of an interesting twist, it was Werner's turn to look like the man with the "Midas Touch". BVB trainer Edin Terzic had the opportunity to serve in that role last round when his side engineered a late comeback against Freiburg, also with three goals scored by substitutes.
With methodical modesty, Werner referenced German football's now permanent five-substitute-allowance as the real reason such matters were occurring.
"With five substitutions, the odds are better," the coach noted, before switching the focus to Lee Buchanan, Niklas Schmidt, and Oliver Burke themselves, "The players who came in wanted to show off their skills. That's what led to us turning it around in the end."
