Report: Van de Ven reaches agreement with Spurs
Dutch journalist Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf reports that VfL Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven has agreed to a new five-year-deal with Tottenham Hotspur.
Micky van de Ven's departure from Germany's green company team appears to be drawing nearer. Dutch journalist Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf claims that the 22-year-old has come to terms with Tottenham Hotspur. All that stands in the way of a move to north London is the transfer fee. Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that a purchase price in the €30-40 million range is being discussed.
Van de Ven's newly-signed contract extension does not contain an exit clause for this summer. Tottenham are clearly willing to ensure that the center back maintains his recently secured contract levels, but whether Wolfsburg will let him leave is another matter. The Lower Saxons do have plenty of depth at the position. Sebastiaan Bornauw, Maxence Lacroix, as well new signings Cedric Zesiger and Moritz Jenz can compensate.
