Hoeness criticizes Tuchel for "unwise statements"

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has been criticized by club boss Uli Hoeness for making "unwise" statements about the squad he has at his disposal.
Bayern Munich board member and honorary president Uli Hoeness has criticized the club's head coach, Thomas Tuchel, for speaking publicly about his transfer demands.

After a summer transfer window in which Bayern failed to meet Tuchel's demands for reinforcements at right-back and in defensive midfield, the Bayern coach has complained about a lack of depth, describing the squad as "thin".

But according to Hoeness, Tuchel shouldn't have publicly gone into detail about his opinion of the squad.

"These statements are a feast for the media, especially the tabloids. Some, including the coach, have made unwise statements - because you shouldn't make your own team look bad by saying that the squad is too thin," Hoeness told RTL.

"When you see what kind of players we have on the bench every weekend, we don't have a thin squad."

Looking ahead to the upcoming January transfer window, Hoeness said:

"If by then we feel we need additions, we will do something. We can't always live in the here and now, but this club should be healthy for the next ten years. And we're proud of the fact that we've been living off the fixed income account for 30 years. And we want to keep it that way."
