Eintracht Frankfurt

Despite pulling off a stunning 5-1 victory over Bayern Munich earlier this month, Frankfurt may head into Wednesday’s encounter in a downbeat mood after losing their last two competitive matches. Die Adler fell to a Europa Conference League defeat to Aberdeen in a dead rubber last Thursday. After being beaten 2-0 by the Scottish side, Frankfurt were then dispatched by a 3-0 scoreline in Sunday’s away clash with league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Having won just one of their last five league games (D1, L3), Frankfurt may be looking forward to the winter break and the chance to replenish their energy levels. However, before they can start enjoying a few weeks' rest, the seventh-placed side must negotiate a home game against Gladbach.

They will at least fancy their chances of taking at least a point from Tuesday’s fixture after losing just one of their last 17 home league games.

Robin Koch, Timothy Chandler, Kristijan Jakic and Sebastian Rode are set to miss out through injury. Meanwhile, Omar Marmoush is a doubt due to illness.

Gladbach

Gladbach will be slightly disappointed after they gave up a slender lead to draw 2-2 with Werder Bremen on Saturday. After going behind, they turned the game in their favour through Rocco Reitz, who found the net either side of half time to give his side a narrow lead. Unfortunately for die Fohlen, they were unable to see out the remainder of the contest as Marvin Ducksch pulled Bremen to ensure the spoils were shared.

Despite missing out on maximum points, the result helped Gladbach extend their unbeaten away run to seven matches. However, they have been unable to replicate that sort of form on the road, having lost three and drawn one of their last four away games.

After conceding at least three goals in each of those four away trips, Gerardo Seoane will be challenging his side to produce a resolute defensive display in their final match of the calendar year.
