Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg's poor run of form continued with a 2-0 away defeat against leaders Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. Nathan Tella and Florian Wirtz grabbed a goal apiece to condemn Wolfsburg to a second straight defeat. Die Wölfe have now gone 10 matches without a win since beating Darmstadt 1-0 in the middle of December.

Having collected 25 points from as many matches, Wolfsburg are currently sitting in 13th place and seven points clear of the bottom three. Niko Kovac’s side will hope to extend that gap this weekend as they go in search of their first home win since November.

Wolfsburg have struggled in recent meetings with Augsburg, having failed to win any of their last four head-to-head matches. As a result, die Wölfe are looking to beat Augsburg for the first time since November 2021.

Lukas Nmecha is ruled out through injury, while Jakub Kamiński is a doubt due to illness. They are also without Moritz Jenz and Yannick Gerhardt, who are both suspended for Saturday's contest.

Augsburg

Augsburg have recovered from a four-game winless run to record three consecutive victories. The Fuggerstädter began their winning run against Freiburg, before they thrashed Darmstadt 6-0 in their most recent away fixture. They followed that comprehensive win with a narrow 1-0 victory over Heidenheim thanks to Jeffrey Gouweleeuw’s first-half effort.

Augsburg have now taken their tally to 32 points, leaving them in ninth position and eight points adrift of the top six. Jess Thorup’s side will now turn their focus to Saturday’s contest, where they will have the chance to record back-to-back away wins in the Bundesliga for the first time since September/October 2022.

A win would also see them complete a league double after they claimed a 3-2 victory in October’s reverse fixture.

The visitors are expected to be without Patric Pfeiffer, Reece Oxford, Raphael Framberger and Niklas Dorsch.
