Matthias Ginter: 'It was nightmarish'

Gladbach's 0-4 defeat to Wolfsberger AC on Thursday was 'a bitter blow', says Matthias Ginter.
Borussia Mönchengladbach made a highly disappointing start to their Europa League campaign on Thursday as they were beaten 0-4 at home by Austrian side Wolfsberger AC.

Speaking in the post-match interview, Matthias Ginter acknowledged that it was a tough evening for Gladbach.

"It was nightmarish. We just never got going and conceded a goal from their first chance. We mixed things up at half time and went again and had a couple of good chances. If one of those had gone in, maybe the game takes a different course – anything is possible in football. But then the ball went in at the other end," Ginter said, as quoted by the club.

"There's no one reason behind the defeat. I don't think it was a mindset issue though. No one makes mistakes on purpose, but we can’t allow them to happen as often as we did tonight. It's a bitter blow, but there are still five group games to go – we can still get the results we need."

AS Roma beat Basaksehir 4-0 in the other game in Gladbach's Europa League group.
