Yannick Gerhardt not convinced his future lies at Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg boss Jörg Schmadtke has hinted that Yannick Gerhardt is stalling on a new deal.
VfL Wolfsburg boss Jörg Schmadtke has admitted that Yannick Gerhardt is unsure about his future at Volkswagen Arena.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is understood to be stalling on a contract extension.

"We are convinced of his ability as a player and believe that he will remain valuable to us in sporting terms," Schmadtke told Sportbuzzer.

"The question is whether he assesses it the same way. At the moment, he is not that convinced," he continued.

After five Bundesliga games without a single minute on the pitch, Gerhardt came into Wolfsburg's starting eleven for Sunday's 1-0 win over Stuttgart, and the midfielder has subsequently been praised for his performance.

"He had a really good game," Schmadtke admitted and added:

"Not everyone reacts to being in a difficult sporting situation like that."
