Hamburger SV have signed Albert Grønbæk permanently from Stade Rennais after the Danish international impressed during his loan spell in the second half of the 2025/26 season.
“Albert quickly showed during his time with us the impact he can have on our game. With his intelligence on the ball, technical quality and tactical flexibility, he brings exactly the qualities that can help our squad in a range of situations,” said HSV sporting director Claus Costa.
"At the same time, with the way he plays football and his personality, he has also quickly become an important part of the team off the pitch. His energy, creativity and desire to make the difference are clear to see on the pitch.
“His performances over the past few months have earned him a return to the national team and shown that we were right to bring him in on loan in the winter. It was therefore clear to us early on that we wanted to continue working together. We are certain that HSV remains the ideal environment for him to keep developing at the top level, and we are delighted that he will continue to wear our shirt and write the next chapter of his story here.”
Grønbæk, who has found the net once and provided two assists in seven Bundesliga appearances for HSV so far, commented:
“I’m absolutely delighted that I can stay at HSV. It feels fantastic. It’s everything I wanted, so it couldn’t have worked out any better.
“The last six months at HSV have gone really well for me. I will always be grateful to my teammates, the coaching team and the backroom staff for the way they have looked after me. Now we want to establish ourselves in the Bundesliga. I’m really excited to see what the future holds for us, and I feel very positive about it.”
