Germany U19 internationals Francis Onyeka and Noah Darvich scored in Elversberg’s 5-2 friendly win over Strasbourg. The newly-promoted Bundesliga side stunned their Ligue 1 opponents after the teams drew 2-2 at the end of the first-half.
Highly-rated winger Martial Godo canceled Onyeka and Luca Pfeiffer’s goals as he scored a brace for Strasbourg. However, Darvich, Felix Keidel and Luca Schnellbacher found the net after the restart as Bundesliga’s debutants secured their third win of the pre-season.
Vincent Wagner’s side beat Champions League club Nijmegen last week thanks to a solitary strike from former Stuttgart striker Pfeiffer. Meanwhile, Onyeka and Darvich are showing positive signs in the pre-season after joining the club on loan deals from Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart, respectively.
Elversberg will play two more friendlies against Mallorca and Lorient before the start of the Bundesliga season. After their DFB-Pokal tie in Duisburg, Elversberg will host Bayer Leverkusen in their first-ever Bundesliga outing.
