For some time now, Real Madrid have been considered one of Bayern Munich’s main rivals for the signature of Dayot Upamecano, whose contract with the German champions expires next summer.
However, sources at Real Madrid have told ESPN that the La Liga giants “practically rule out” signing the French defender.
Meanwhile, Bayern are reportedly making progress in negotiations with Upamecano over a new long-term contract.
The main sticking point appears to be the player’s demands for a release clause.
Reports suggest Upamecano wants a €65 million release clause to be active from 2027.
Bayern would be willing to include the clause, but prefer it to start a year later.
