Austrian Bundesliga outfit RB Salzburg are said to be getting serious about Hannover 96 sporting director Marcus Mann.
Jürgen Klopp and Oliver Mintzlaff want him to take over immediately as their new sporting chief executive, Sky Germany reports.
Concrete negotiations between Salzburg and Hannover 96 over a compensation fee are already under way.
At the start of December, Hannover managed to fend off interest from VfL Wolfsburg who were also pursuing the 41-year-old.
In addition to the deal nearing completion, the 2. Bundesliga club are already in contact with possible successors.
Several candidates have already been listed, including Dieter Hecking, Jörg Schmadtke and Sergio Pinto.
