With Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig both sidelined, Bayern Munich’s third-choice goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich, made a rare start in Saturday’s 1–1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

Unfortunately for Bayern, Ulreich suffered an injury during the game. The German champions confirmed on Sunday afternoon that he sustained a muscle bundle tear in his right adductors.

The 37-year-old will therefore be “sidelined for the time being,” joining Neuer and Urbig on the club’s injury list.

Neuer is not expected back until after the international break, while Bayern remain hopeful that Urbig can return for the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie against Atalanta on Wednesday, following the concussion he suffered in the first leg.

With fourth-choice Leon Klanac sidelined with a thigh injury, 16-year-old Leonard Prescott could sensationally get his chance if Urbig doesn’t recover in time for the Atalanta game.

Prescott was on the bench for the games against Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen.
