Doubles from Ben Bobzien and Niklas Hauptmann, alongside strikes from Vincent Vermeij and Jason Ceka, capped a superb afternoon for Thomas Stamm’s side as they ruthlessly dispatched their relegation rivals.
In what was a crucial clash at the foot of the table, Dresden seized the initiative early and took the lead inside 15 minutes. Bobzien collected the ball on the left flank before bursting into the penalty area, leaving Jano ter Horst trailing in his wake, and coolly finishing through the legs of Johannes Schenk to make it 1-0.
Less than five minutes later Bobzien struck again. Dresden’s aggressive pressing forced Marco Meyerhöfer into surrendering possession, allowing Hauptmann to surge down the right and square the ball for Bobzien, who calmly slotted past Schenk to double the hosts’ advantage.
Dresden maintained the pressure and were in dreamland just past the half-hour mark. A long ball forward from Alexander Rossipal found Hauptmann inside the area, and the midfielder poked beyond the onrushing Schenk to make it 3-0, leaving the hosts firmly in control heading into the break.
Münster, clearly lacking confidence, struggled to muster a response after the interval and Dresden punished them with two quickfire goals. In the 57th minute Hauptmann grabbed his second of the afternoon, before Vermeij added a fifth just two minutes later after capitalising on a loose pass from Schenk, driving toward goal and finishing coolly with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Ceka rounded off the scoring with 15 minutes remaining. The winger was afforded space on the right before cutting inside, breezing past Paul Jaeckel and unleashing a powerful strike into the top corner to seal a commanding 6-0 victory.
It was a superb afternoon’s work for Dresden, who extend their unbeaten run to four matches and climb to 12th in the table. For Münster, however, it proved a disastrous outing as a second consecutive defeat leaves them languishing in 16th place.
