Following a loan spell at Tottenham, RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner could now be heading to the United States.

According to Leipziger Volkszeitung, the 29-year-old striker is on the verge of joining RB Leipzig’s sister club, the New York Red Bulls.

Kicker reports that negotiations are well advanced, though a final agreement has yet to be reached.

Werner no longer has a future in Leipzig and has also attracted interest from clubs in Turkey.

Leipzig initially signed the striker from Stuttgart in 2016 for €23 million, before selling him to Chelsea for €53 million in 2020.

He returned to Leipzig in 2022 for a reported €20 million and now has just one year remaining on his contract.
