Germany suffered a devastating exit from Euro 2024 on Friday, losing 2-1 to Spain after extra time in the quarter-finals.
But even though Julian Nagelsmann's side didn't manage to go all the way on home soil, Germany sporting director Rudi Völler believes there's plenty of reason to be positive about what lies ahead.
"It was our wish to play our way back among the top teams in the world. We have done that. Yesterday was an incredible performance, coming back from behind. It wouldn't have happened a few months ago," Völler said at a press conference on Saturday.
"We also have an obligation to the fans to play this kind of football. We want to continue exactly this way
“For me as an old timer, this unity between the fans and the team was something very special. It gets under your skin. You could feel it in every game, the people are fully behind us. That's a good sign,” he said.
