Flick out of the running for Bayern job?

According to Sport1, it is highly unlikely that Hansi Flick will become the new coach of Bayern Munich.

With just one game left in the season, Bayern Munich are still looking for a coach to replace Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi and former Bayern and Germany coach Hansi Flick were recently touted as the favorites for the job, but it now appears that the latter is out of the running.

According to Sport1, a return for Flick is highly unlikely. In fact, the report claims, it's as good as off the table.

Meanwhile, Kicker reports that there are concerns in the Bayern management about Flick after his disappointing spell as Germany coach.

That leaves De Zerbi as the remaining candidate, but the Italian coach said earlier this month that he's keen to stay put for now.

With that in mind, the question is whether Bayern could make a U-turn and let Tuchel stay on after all.

Unlike outgoing players Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Bouna Sarr, the 50-year-old wasn't officially honored by the fans before kick-off against Wolfsburg yesterday. Could this be a sign that a back door is being kept open for Tuchel to stay on if necessary?

Explaining the decision, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said:

"I sat down with Thomas and we both said it didn't feel right [to do it] before the penultimate matchday. We still have something to lose, which is second place".
