Former Mainz 05 and 1. FC Union Berlin manager Bo Svensson has been appointed new head coach of FC Copenhagen.

Svensson returns to the club where he once played, replacing Jacob Neestrup, who has been dismissed following a disastrous campaign.

The 46-year-old has frequently been linked with a return to the Bundesliga dugout, but has now chosen a different path.

“It is an honour to return to my beloved club and take charge of F.C. Copenhagen,” said Svensson.

“I approach this role with humility, but also confidence. I know what I can contribute, and I take responsibility with open eyes, fully aware of both the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
