Joshua Kimmich has sung the praises of his 18-year-old Bayern Munich teammate Lennart Karl, who could make his senior international debut for Germany in Friday’s friendly against Switzerland.

Karl has made a strong impression on the Germany captain with his quality and mentality.

“'Lenny' is doing really well. He has a very good mindset because he combines confidence with an attitude of ‘I honestly don’t give a damn right now about what happens.’ You need that when you’re playing for Bayern and the DFB at such a young age,” Kimmich said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“He’s someone who comes onto the pitch and is very brave,” Kimmich continued.

“As a teammate, I really love that. ‘Lenny’ comes on, looks to make things happen, knows his strengths, and wants to get his shot away. His finishing, in particular, is very good. He’s a player who understands how to use his actions in the most effective way to be dangerous.”

Karl has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 34 appearances for Bayern this season.
