Kompany gives update on squad – including Neuer – ahead of Leverkusen clash

At a press conference on Friday, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany provided an update on his team, including Manuel Neuer, ahead of Saturday's top-of-the-table clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich will make a late decision on Manuel Neuer's availability for Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Bayer Leverkusen, head coach Vincent Kompany has confirmed.

Neuer was forced off at half-time of Bayern's 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb last week with a thigh problem and subsequently missed Saturday's 5-0 win over Werder Bremen.

The 38-year-old resumed training on Thursday and is now expected to feature in Saturday's crunch fixture.

"Manuel is training at the moment. We'll make a final decision tomorrow," Kompany said of the goalkeeper.

He added that there are no new injuries to worry about at the moment.

“The squad won't change much compared to the Werder Bremen game. Everyone who was there should be available.”

Having won all his games in charge so far, Kompany faces his biggest test yet as Bayern coach on Saturday.

“It's good that everyone's excited about the game. Obviously it'll be an important game, against the best team from the last 12 months. We're looking forward to the game,” he said.

“Obviously it won't be easy. We want to test ourselves against a good opponent at the Allianz Arena. Bayern are always the favourites. We're looking forward to playing against the champions and want to win.”
