Emiliano Buendia has officially joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan from Aston Villa for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 28-year-old arrives as a replacement for Martin Terrier, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to an Achilles injury.

“Emiliano Buendia is a good, technically versatile player who plays in a passionate and assertive way. He’s played more than 100 games in the demanding Premier League and brings a lot of experience to help us immediately in achieving our goals,” said managing director for sport Simon Rolfes.

Buendia himself said that the Bundesliga is “very appealing” to him.

"Bayer Leverkusen are the defending champions and in my view one of the best and most interesting teams in Europe,” he said.

“I’ve obviously seen Leverkusen’s performances in the Champions League in recent months and also their Europa League games last season. It’s a great team that plays attractive football. I’m sure I can help contribute to the club’s success.”
