Despite being tied down until 2027, Alejandro Grimaldo is believed to be keen on pursuing a new challenge, with indications that a summer departure is now firmly on the table following reports from Spanish outlet Diario SPORT. Should that materialise, it would mark the end of a hugely influential spell at the BayArena.

Grimaldo has been a cornerstone of Leverkusen’s success, not only providing consistency on the pitch but also offering leadership within the squad. His contributions were instrumental in the club securing their historic first Bundesliga title, underlining just how significant his potential exit could be.

From Leverkusen’s perspective, the financial aspect adds another layer of concern. Reports claim the 30-year-old could be available for under €12 million - a figure that appears modest given his importance, experience, and recent performances.

Unsurprisingly, interest is beginning to build. FC Barcelona are once again being linked, with the Spanish giants long-term admirers of Grimaldo. A return to Spain has been discussed before, and with a relatively low fee now being mentioned, a deal could be more attainable this time around.
