Matarazzo seriously considering offer to coach USMNT, reports claim

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that, once again, the USSF is interested in installing Pellegrino Matarazzo as the USMNT head-coach. There exist plenty of reasons for the 46-year-old to consider a concrete offer.

The Italian American - entering the final year of his contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - may be tempted to leave his German club during a time of administrative and sporting distress.

As was the case shortly before his installment as the head-coach of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the USSF appears interested in bringing in experienced Bundesliga trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo to coach the U.S. men's team. Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that the 46-year-old is a candidate for the vacant USMNT head-coaching position. The Italian American trainer - working on a contract that expires at the end of the season - is said to be mulling the offer over.

Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that the American FA even submitted a formal offer to now former TSG personnel chief Alexander Rosen prior to his recent dismissal. Matarazzo may be tempted to leave the Kraichgauer as Hoffenheim presently find themselves in a state of great upheaval. In addition to Rosen, longtime TSG development chief Pirmin Schwegler is expected to move to the Eintracht Frankfurt front office.

The TSG roster heading into the new season, which also features a demanding Europa League schedule, is beset with problems. Much-needed help in central defense hasn't been procured. An injury to David Jurasek leaves Matarazzo without a starting left-back. With departures of Niclas Füllkrug and Youssoufa Moukoko now all but certain, Borussia Dortmund are said to be intensifying their efforts to acquire TSG top striker Maximilian Beier.
