Nagelsmann discusses possible rotation against Switzerland
After Wednesday's 2-0 win over Hungary, Germany are assured of a place in the knockout stages at the European Championship.
But that doesn't mean coach Julian Nagelsmann will be making many changes for Sunday's final group game against Switzerland, which is likely to be a battle for top spot in the group.
"We want to win the group, that's the first goal. We want to get more rhythm. There won't be seven changes, I can rule that out," Nagelsmann told German television after the win over Hungary.
He described the match as "tough" and Hungary as an "unpleasant opponent".
"We gave them too many set pieces for the quality they have. We had to survive some moments, but we created enough to be dangerous," said Nagelsmann.
"In the second half, we were quite in control. The space is very tight and the speed of the passing is key. When we scored the second goal, we did a good job of shutting them down," added the German coach, who knows how special it is to be in charge of the German national team at the European Championship on home soil.
“I never imagined what it's like to be a national team coach at a tournament. It's really something special. It does something to you.”
