Brandt left in "complete shock" by Marco Rose's departure
Julian Brandt has revealed that Borussia Dortmund's decision to part company with Marco Rose as head coach left him in "complete shock".
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt has admitted that he was completely unprepared for the dismissal of Marco Rose as head coach.
"I was in complete shock for 10 minutes because I didn't know anything about it or expect it at all," Brandt said on the 'Kicker meets DAZN' podcast.
"In the end, that's just how the fast-paced football world is, and it's not my job to evaluate that. But I was surprised.
"I had the feeling that it was a long-term project and that he would be given the time to build something."
Under Rose, Brandt fought his way back into the national team, scoring nine goals and recording eight assists.
"That was okay and a good basis for the next season, but nothing more," said the midfielder self-critically.
Rose has been replaced by Edin Terzic, who was the club's interim coach from December 2020 to June 2021 before taking on the job as technical director.
