Schlager's RB Leipzig move expected to go through shortly

A deal that will see Xaver Schlager leave Wolfsburg for RB Leipzig is nearing completion, according to multiple sources.
RB Leipzig are expected to seal a deal to sign Xaver Schlager from Wolfsburg in the near future.

According to both Kicker and Sky Germany, negotiations between the parties are at an advanced stage, with a deal worth around €12 million likely to go through shortly.

If Schlager moves to Leipzig, he's not intended as a replacement for his Austrian compatriot Konrad Laimer, although the latter is being linked with Bayern München and looks likely to leave, per Kicker.

Instead, he would be in line to replace Amadou Haidara and/or Tyler Adams, who could both depart the club as well.

Wolfsburg paid €15 million to sign Schlager from RB Salzburg in 2019. He has one year left on his contract.
