Havertz on the departures of Rüdiger and Werner: "It's not like I sit at home crying every night"
Kai Havertz has opened up on how it feels to be the only German international left at Chelsea following the departures of Antonio Rüdiger and Timo Werner.
Over the summer, Kai Havertz has had to say goodbye to two of his closest teammates as fellow German internationals Antonio Rüdiger and Timo Werner have departed Chelsea to sign for Real Madrid and RB Leipzig, respectively.
In an interview with Sky Germany, the 23-year-old has reflected on how it feels to be the last German international left at Chelsea.
"It's not like I sit at home crying every night. That's how it is to be a footballer, you just have to respect that," Havertz said and added:
"They're close friends of mine, and we saw each other every day for two years, so of course it hurts that they've taken a different path.
"But they're not out of the world, after all. We can still keep in touch and also see each other when we're with the national team. Taking that into consideration, it's okay."
