As the Swiss national football team prepares to make another improbable run deep into a major international tournament, the future of striker Haris Seferovic remains up in the air. The 30-year-old center forward, currently playing on loan at Galatasaray Istanbul from SL Benfica, has lost his place in the national team starting XI and seen his market value plummet from a peak of €16 million last summer to €6 million today.

"Blick" newspaper in Seferovic's native country reports that many clubs are interested in assisting the veteran with the next phase of his career. Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam and Servette Geneva are said to have interest in bringing the 91-times-capped international closer to home.

Though it may be something of a stretch, it's possible that the former Eintracht Frankfurt professional could be persuaded to return to German football as well. FC Schalke 04 are listed as potential suitors. The player's cost could fall just within the range of the relegation-threatened team's budget and Seferovic might be interested in returning to the domestic league in which he enjoyed a great deal of success.

The latest word of Schalke's activity in the coming transfer window, as expressed by acting club sporting director Peter Knäbel, holds that the current roster is theoretically serviceable enough to compete in the top flight. Knäbel nevertheless told Germany's main sporting tabloid that he definitely wished to bring in reinforcements up front.

The recent activation of Amine Harit's (Marseille) purchase clause gives the Königsblauen some financial wiggle room. Seferovic already has 16 Bundesliga goals to his credit from his three seasons spent at Frankfurt. He played an especially important role in helping the SGE reach the the 2016/17 DFB Pokal Final.
