Official: Reus signs on for another year

Borussia Dortmund have officially confirmed a one-year contract extension for skipper Marco Reus.
Marco Reus will play another season in a Borussia Dortmund tricot. The league-leaders confirmed a one-year contract-extension for their 33-year-old captain on Thursday. Germany's Kicker magazine currently confirms reports that the German footballing legend has agreed to a sizable pay cut in the interest of playing one more year with die Schwarzgelben.

"Right now, just like all our fans, we as a team have one big goal in mind, and all our concentration is on that: We want to become German champions," Reus noted in a statement accompanying the signing, "But even beyond that, I still have a great desire to give my best for the club where I've already spent more than half my life."

"There is still nothing better for me than scoring goals in front of the best fans in the world and in the most beautiful stadium in the world and celebrating victories together," the 48-times capped international continued, "That's why I'm delighted to have extended my contract by another year, because I've always said that I'd prefer not to play for any other club in my career than BVB."

"We arevery happy that Marco will continue his special story at BVB for another year with this signing," BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl added, "As a player and identification figure, Marco has an enormous value for this club - among our fans on the 'Süd', in this city, but also beyond the borders of Dortmund to BVB fans all over the world.

"As a long-time BVB professional and a native of Dortmund," Kehl continued, "He will not only continue to play an active role in celebrating success on the pitch, but will also use all his experience to drive the development of the younger generation within our squad."
