Kicker Report: Union Berlin to pick up Hertha's Tousart
German journalist Steffen Rohr of Germany's preeminent footballing publication dropped a bombshell of a transfer rumor on Tuesday evening.
A fairly sensational transfer within German football is, according to Steffen Rohr of Germany's Kicker Magazine, in the offing. Hertha BSC - in the process of getting several highly paid professionals off their payroll - are apparently set to sell French midfielder Lucas Tousart to city rivals 1. FC Union Berlin.
Rohr has nothing to report in terms of a transfer fee at this juncture. Tousart joined Hertha during the ill-fated January 2020 transfer window run during Jürgen Klinsmann's brief tenure in charge of the capital city's Charlottenburg side for €25 million. With a present estimated market worth of €9 million, it stands to reason that Hertha will be hoping to recoup some significant funds for the 26-year-old.
Rohr reports that the Charlottenburg and Köpenick front offices are "feverishly" working on a transfer. Tousart played virtually every midfield position for the Herthaner. He scored eight Bundesliga goals in 89 league appearances for "die alte Dame". Hertha are reportedly also on the verge of offloading striker Krzysztof Piatek and winger Myziane Maolida, both of whom are headed to separate Turkish clubs.
