Maximilian Philipp is understood to be on the verge of joining VfL Wolfsburg from Borussia Dortmund.

According to Bild, Wolfsburg have reached an agreement with the 25-year-old who is expected to come to Volkswagen Arena for a transfer fee of around €18 million.

The deal isn't fully in place yet, partly because Wolfsburg want to get Josip Brekalo off the payroll first. 'Die Wölfe' demand around €20 million for the 21-year-old who has been linked with the likes of AC Milan and Benfica.

Dortmund paid €20 million to sign Philipp from Freiburg in 2017.
