Official: Koen Casteels signs new Wolfsburg deal

Koen Casteels has committed himself to VfL Wolfsburg by signing a new contract until 2024.
Koen Casteels has put pen to paper on a new contract with VfL Wolfsburg, the club have announced.

The 27-year-old's contract was due to run out in 2021, but he has now committed himself to the club by signing a new deal until 2024.

"I'm delighted to be able to continue along the path we’re on at VfL, and to play my part in furthering the positive development of the team in the coming years," Casteels said in an interview on the club's website.

"My family and I have long felt at home in Wolfsburg, so extending my contract here was the most logical decision for me," he added.

Wolfsburg's managing director of sport, Jörg Schmadtke, said:

"Koen has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world at VfL, and his quality and character are a huge support and a role model for the whole team. With him and our other goalkeepers, we're very well stocked in this position."

Casteels joined Wolfsburg from Hoffenheim in 2015.
