VfL Wolfsburg boss Jörg Schmadtke has confirmed that Robin Knoche will leave the club this summer.

The centre-back's contract expires at the end of the season and will not be extended as the parties were unable to agree on a new deal.

"We are totally grateful for what he has done for this club. But we will not continue with Robin. It was a difficult decision," Schmadtke told Sportbuzzer.

Knoche, 28, has spent his entire career at Wolfsburg so far, making 224 appearances for the club.
