David Alaba has defended himself against criticism of his performances this season, insisting that his unclear future at Bayern München doesn't impact him on the pitch.

Asked if he believes he has suffered a dip in form due to concerns over his contract, which expires at the end of the season, Alaba told Bild:

"No, absolutely not.

"Personally, I don't think it's going that badly for me this season, and I haven't changed my style of play compared to last season. As I have mentioned many times, the only thing that absolutely counts is to play another successful season with FC Bayern."

Despite Friday's disappointing 3-2 loss to Gladbach, Bayern remain top of the Bundesliga, two points clear of RB Leipzig, and Alaba is confident of securing a ninth straight Bundesliga title win this season.

"We're still top of the table, and I'm sure we will win our next games and come out on top in the end," said the Austrian international.
