While information on a transfer fee was not disclosed, Germany's Rheinhessen officially announced that 30-year-old South Korean striker Ji Dong-Won would return to his native country in the coming season. FSV Mainz 05 confirmed this move, which had long been expected, on their homepage and social media channels.

"Dong-Won Ji wishes to start over in his home country," Mainz sporting director Martin Schmidt said in a statement on the club's website, "We have fulfilled this wish for him."

The veteran will continue his career at capital side FC Seoul. The Taeguk Warrior's Bundesliga career began with a loan to FC Augsburg in 2012. He remained in the Bundesrepublik for ten seasons, eight of which were spent in the top flight. All told, the striker made 156 appearances across Germany's three professional footballing divisions.
