As officially announced by Hamburger SV this afternoon, Merlin Polzin has extended his contract with the club.

HSV's head coach along with his assistants Loic Fave, Richard Krohn, and Max Bergmann have penned long-term deals.

"They impress with their expertise, their meticulousness, their diligence, and their daily passion," said sporting director Kathleen Krüger.

Despite the club's slow start to the season, the HSV chief feels the fundamental work of the coaches is heading in the right direction.

“We communicated our fundamental commitment clearly from the outset and repeatedly recently.

"We will move forward together, while also being aware of the current sporting situation. Trust doesn't mean that results become secondary, but is based on critical analysis.

“Therefore, we are extending the contracts of Merlin, Loic, Richi, and Max with all the more awareness and conviction,” she explained.

Merlin Polzin is now the fifth longest-serving coach among current Bundesliga managers having taken over in November 2024.
