After lengthy negotiations, Ole Werner has decided not to extend his contract as Werder Bremen head coach, which runs until 2026.

The decision has left the club’s management disappointed.

“We are really disheartened by this decision, because we could have easily imagined working with Ole in the long term,” said Clemens Fritz, managing director of professional football at Werder Bremen.

“We now have to accept this decision and analyse the current situation to determine what the best solution for Werder is. We will take the necessary time during this process before ultimately communicating any results.”

Werner has been Werder's head coach since 2021.
