Things have gone the wrong way for FC St. Pauli in recent months. On Sunday, the Hamburg-based side suffered their eighth consecutive league defeat on Sunday, losing 0-1 to Union Berlin.
Despite the poor run of form, head coach Alexander Blessin’s position is apparently not in question.
“There’s absolutely no speculation. He is our coach,” club president Oke Göttlich emphasised in an interview with DAZN after Sunday’s defeat.
Blessin himself responded bluntly when asked about his team’s struggles.
“When you’ve got shit on your heels, then you’ve got shit on your heels,” he said.
"We tried everything, we gave everything. Now we have to help ourselves."
St. Pauli face a difficult test against reigning champions Bayern Munich on Saturday.
