Borussia Mönchengladbach have been boosted by the return of captain Tim Kleindienst to training.

The German international striker has been training fully for some time now, and as Gladbach coach Eugen Polanski revealed ahead of Saturday’s away game against 1. FC Heidenheim, he could be set for his first squad inclusion of the season.

“He’s definitely not ready for the full 90 minutes yet. It’s a special situation because Tim is our captain and a leader who brings great quality on the pitch, while also adding significant value to the team as a person,” said Polanski.

“I’m delighted he’s back. Whether he’s ready to return to the squad is something we’ll decide relatively soon.”

Polanski even hinted at potentially giving Kleindienst some minutes, adding with a wink:

“The fitness coaches won’t want to hear this, but the coach gets a few thoughts in his head based on how the game unfolds…”
