Schalke announce Hoffmann signing

Schalke have announced the signing of former FC Bayern goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, who arrives from Eintracht Braunschweig.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper makes the move to Gelsenkirchen, signing a contract until June 2027. After the announcement, sporting director Marc Wilmots spoke out regarding his new signing.

“With Ron-Thorben, we are gaining the services of an athletic goalkeeper with extremely quick reactions. His strengths also include his dominance in the air and how quickly he can get the ball forward after claiming it.”

The German goalkeeper also gave his comments when speaking to the cub.

"I made the decision to join Schalke because I'm certain it's the right club for me. The club made it clear what they expect from me during our conversations. I'm already looking forward to getting started with my new teammates in a few weeks and to meeting the fans.

After spells with Hansa Rostock, Hertha BSC and RB Leipzig, Hoffmann joined the Bayern youth setup before spending a season on loan in the Championship with Sunderland. Hoffman kept seven clean sheets for an Eintracht Braunschweig side that finished just outside of the relegation picture.

Hoffmann leaves Braunschweig after two years at the club.
