Burhan Can Terzi has been detained by Turkish police for reporting that Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala would join Galatasaray this summer.
According to NTV, the journalist was taken into custody as part of an investigation by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The reason for the inquiry was in regard to the dissemination of misleading information linking the Bayern star to the Turkish club.
Having developed out of thin air, the rumour was initially met with intense pushback from a handful of sources denying it's credibility.
This came to a head when Galatasaray themselves felt obliged to publish an official club statement denying such a move.
