FC Augsburg suffered a heavy setback on Saturday, losing 0-6 at home to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Speaking after the game, Augsburg coach Sandro Wagner said he felt his side were punished clinically for their defensive shortcomings.

“We had high ambitions and actually started the game well. However, our finishing wasn’t sharp or good enough –  that’s on us," said Wagner.

"Defensively, we didn’t do well. Against a team with such individual quality as Leipzig, you get punished ruthlessly for that.

"Today we got a real slap in the face, but that’s part of our development. The important thing is to draw the right conclusions from it.”

The defeat leaves Augsburg 15th in the table. A Mainz win on Sunday would see them drop down to 16th.
