Wirtz fully fit to face Atalanta: "He's in top shape"
Bayer Leverkusen boss Simon Rolfes has insisted that Florian Wirtz is in "top shape" to face Atalanta in the Europa League final.
After struggling with a thigh problem in recent weeks, Florian Wirtz is back to full fitness ahead of Bayer Leverkusen's Europa League final against Atalanta on Wednesday.
This was confirmed by Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes ahead of the match.
"He's in top shape," Rolfes told reporters.
"And we need him. He's a difference-maker who inspires everyone. Even the neutral fans," he added.
Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso will have the privilege of having a full squad at his disposal for the final.
Wirtz, 21, has 18 goals and 20 assists in 47 games in all competitions this season.
The young German international was recently named Bundesliga Player of the Season.
