Patrick Wimmer has been playing for VfL Wolfsburg since 2022 – and it appears Die Wölfe are now trying to ensure that he remains at the club long term.
According to WAZ and AZ, Wolfsburg held initial talks with Wimmer's representatives about a contract extension last Saturday.
Wimmer, 24, scored three goals and provided two assists in his last three games before the winter break.
The Austrian international’s current deal at the Volkswagen Arena runs until the summer of 2027.
Wolfsburg face stiff competition to keep Wimmer, as he has been linked with clubs in Germany and abroad, including RB Leipzig, Brighton & Hove Albion, West Ham United, Juventus and AC Milan
