Bayern enter into concrete negotiations with Flick, Sky reports

Sky Germany currently reports that FC Bayern München have entered into negotiations with Hans Dieter Flick for their vacant head-coaching position.

Reported to be the front-runner (after several rejections) for FC Bayern München's head-coaching position, there are now reports that Hansi Flick has engaged in concrete negotiations with the German giants. Sky Germany claims that Max Eberl and the FCB administrative team are in active talks with the 59-year-old over a return to the Säbener Straße.

Flick famously coached Bayern to their historic six-trophy-year after taking over for the sacked Niko Kovac in November 2019. Flick's appointment was initially on an interim basis. His unexpected success - combined with a reported feud with then top personnel executive Hasan Salihamidzic - led to Flick leaving to assume the German Bundestrainer position after the season.

Flick's disastrous stint in charge of the German national team has left him without a job since September. To date, Flick has still only coached one top-tier German footballing side. He did serve as the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim trainer for five years long before Dietmar Hopp's creation reached the German second tier. He did work as Bundestrainer Joachim Löw's assistant between 2006 and 2014.

Sky reports that Eberl will also seeking to recruit German footballing legend Miroslav Klose back to one of his Bundesliga clubs as an assistant coach. It also looks to be the case that Eberl wishes to heal one of the biggest rifts created by the Julian Nagelsmann coaching regime. Manuel Neuer's preferred goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic may be in line for a return.
