A possible extension of Mario Götze's contract is apparently only feasible for Eintracht Frankfurt under one condition.

According to a report from BILD, the 33-year-old would have to forgo a large portion of his salary to sign a new contract.

Currently, the attacking midfielder is one of the top earners at the Hesse club, with a base salary of €3.5million plus bonuses.

However, since Götze is no longer a regular starter, an extension at his current salary is not a viable solution.

Although sporting director Markus Krösche recently left an extension open, both sides can very well envision a continued collaboration.

A move to America is not currently an option —especially since Götze feels very comfortable in Frankfurt. His current deal runs until 2026.
