RB Leipzig will have to manage without their first-choice goalkeeper for a number of weeks.

Die Roten Bullen confirmed on Monday that Peter Gulacsi suffered a partial tear to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg.

As a result, the Hungarian shot-stopper is expected to be out until the end of March.

“The diagnosis is tough to take, but we know Pete is a top professional with a great mentality," said RB Leipzig managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer.

“He’ll do everything he can to get back as quickly as possible and come back even stronger. We’ll give him our full support throughout his recovery and wish him a speedy return to action.”

Maarten Vandevoordt is set to take over in goal during Gulacsi's absence.
