Kompany gives update on Musiala’s horror injury: "He had to go to hospital, and it didn’t look good"

Speaking after Bayern’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Vincent Kompany provided a brief update on Jamal Musiala, who was forced off in the first half with what appeared to be a serious injury.

Bayern Munich were eliminated from the Club World Cup on Saturday evening, losing 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain.

What made the defeat even worse for the Bavarians was that star attacker Jamal Musiala was stretchered off just before half-time with what appeared to be a serious injury.

Speaking after the game, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany provided an injury update on the midfielder in an interview with DAZN.

“He had to go to hospital, and it didn't look good. The overwhelming feeling is that I hope it's not as bad as it looks, and that he will get through this one,” Kompany said.

Musiala had only just returned from a torn muscle bundle that sidelined him for a couple of months.

“It's the second setback in a very short time. He's a player that loves football - it’s his life. It will hit hard, but he's going to get through it and come back stronger. Hopefully, he'll be there to lift trophies with Bayern next season,” Kompany added.

According to Sky Germany, Musiala is suspected to have fractured his fibula. A definitive diagnosis will be announced once examinations have been donducted.
