According to Sky Germany, Bayer Leverkusen are preparing to activate an €8 million buyback clause for striker Kerim Alajbegovic, who is currently on the books at Red Bull Salzburg.
The 18-year-old forward only made the permanent switch to Salzburg last summer, departing Leverkusen for a reported fee in the region of €2-2.5 million. Despite signing a long-term contract running until 2029, a swift return to Germany now appears increasingly likely.
However, his long-term future remains uncertain. A number of leading clubs from Italy are said to have already expressed an interest in securing his services.
Alajbegovic has enjoyed an impressive campaign so far, registering eleven goals and three assists across all competitions.
