Bayern Munich were dealt an injury blow in their 3-1 Telekom Cup win over RB Leipzig on Saturday, as Konrad Laimer was forced off early following a challenge from David Raum.

Speaking to Sport1 after the game, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl provided an update on the versatile Austrian international, who had to be supported by medical staff on his way off the pitch.

“Konny took a knock relatively early on. It quickly started to swell up, so he was taken off as a precaution,” Eberl said, adding:

“He could no longer walk and had to be supported. Things weren’t completely fine.”

Further examinations will now take place before a more concrete diagnosis can be given.

“I can’t say today how long he’ll be out for. The situation is currently being examined in more detail.”
